โœจ Our 2025 Walkathon was a true display of our Marist values of solidarity and family spirit! โœจ Despite the weather, our school came together to raise funds for our sister school in Trichy, India. ๐ŸŒโค๏ธ The effort, energy, and generosity of everyone involved made the day truly special. And of course, our 2000s theme costumes brought the fun and highlighted the strength of our community spirit! ๐ŸŽถ๐Ÿ‘•๐Ÿ•บ A huge thank you to all who participated and supported. Together, weโ€™re living out our Marist values and making a real difference. ๐Ÿ™Œ In the October Holidays last year, myself, alongside 15 other students and 4 teachers embarked on a journey halfway across the world to India. We experienced many different cultures across the South of India, and were touched by the kindness and generosity of everyone we encountered. Part of our trip was also having the privilege to visit our sister school in Trichy. We were able to play with the kids during break times, and integrate ourselves into their school life for a single day, allowing us to see and experience where the money we raise during the walkathon goes. We all made new friends, as the students were incredibly kind and welcoming. Not only did they look out for each other on the playground, but some even offered to help us wash our hands after playing, small gestures that spoke volumes about their thoughtfulness. Logesh was a boy who stuck around after school hours, so that he could say goodbye to us properly. He even gave me and another student, Luke, a ring with โ€œfriendโ€ engraved on it. This example of generosity was felt throughout our entire trip, and truly showed the impact of our efforts within our Walkathon season. Raising money during this time allows for new facilities to be built for the children, and also funds the teacherโ€™s pay, as a teacherโ€™s yearly wage is roughly $1000 Australian Dollars. Although the Walkathon is fun and a great experience with friends, it's important to remember our true mission. Any attempt to raise money is an effort that significantly helps our sister school in Trichy, helping fund the education of the students, with dreams and aspirations, just like each and every one of us. Together, every step we take in the Walkathon helps, no matter how big or small, and shows the students there that they are supported and valued in our school community.
