πŸ’šπŸ’› During this Lenten season, St. Patrick’s Marist College is partnering with the Jesuit Refugee Service Australia (JRS) to assist refugees and people seeking asylum in Australia. πŸ’šπŸ’› πŸ’šπŸ’› To assist JRS, we are asking for our community to donate essential items that will help these asylum seekers have the basic necessities as they settle into their new life in Australia. Items will be donated to our Ekklesia Food bank which we will then deliver to the JRS. πŸ’šπŸ’› We kindly ask donations to be placed in reusable bags and dropped off before Homeroom. Commitment to Close the Gap clear for Western Sydney Catholic schools

Catholic Schools Parramatta Diocese (CSPD) has released its first annual Closing the Gap report. This report outlines its contribution to improving socio-economic outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, particularly students and their families. CSPD Chief Executive Officer Jack de Groot said the report reflects the dedication of CSPD’s 6 500 staff in fostering reconciliation and equity through the organisation’s 80 outstanding school across Western Sydney and the Blue Mountains.

πŸ§‘β€πŸŒΎπŸ§‘β€πŸŒΎ Recently, our year 9 Elective History students participated in a simulation called Tyranny, where five students acted as oligarchs while the rest formed various groups of farmers and landless labourers. πŸ§‘β€πŸŒΎπŸ§‘β€πŸŒΎ Each group presented their concerns and proposed solutions to the oligarchs, who then deliberated on how to address them. πŸ’šπŸ’› πŸ—―οΈπŸ—―οΈ Following the discussions, students decided the next course of actionβ€”whether to elect a tyrant from among the oligarchs, maintain the oligarchic system, or stage a revolution to establish a democracy.
