๐Ÿ† MARIST ORATORY COMPETITION 2026 ๐Ÿ† On Monday 31 August, our College proudly participated in the 34th Annual Marist Oratory Competition, hosted by Parramatta Marist High School. Six students represented SPMC across their respective divisions, showcasing their confidence, preparation and exceptional public speaking skills. A special congratulations to: ๐Ÿฅ‡ Carl (Year 12) โ€“ 1st Place, Senior Prepared Division ๐Ÿฅˆ Tinaye (Year 8) โ€“ 2nd Place, Junior Division Adding to the celebrations, SPMC was named the overall winner of the competition, taking home the St Marcellin Trophy for 2026! ๐Ÿ† This outstanding result means our College will have the honour of hosting the Marist Oratory Competition in 2027. Congratulations to all six students for their hard work, commitment and the way they represented our College. ๐Ÿ† SPIRIT OF TOM AWARD 2026! ๐Ÿ† What an incredible achievement for our students! ๐ŸŒŸ On Sunday, four SPMC teams took part in the Tournament of the Minds competition at the University of New South Wales. After six weeks of preparation, problem-solving and teamwork, our students presented their STEM models and scripts to a panel of four judges. But the biggest highlight of the day was yet to comeโ€ฆ ๐ŸŽ‰ From more than 50 schools competing, the judges and tournament organisers select just ONE school each year to receive the prestigious Spirit of ToM Award โ€” recognising a school that stands out for its spirit, teamwork, creativity and positive contribution to the tournament. We are incredibly proud to announce that SPMC is the recipient of the 2026 Spirit of ToM Award! ๐Ÿ†๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿ’› A huge congratulations to all four teams and to every student involved. ๐Ÿ’š Winter Sleepout | Giving Back ๐Ÿ’š Following our recent Winter Sleepout, the generous donations collected by our students have now been gathered and delivered to Vinnies, helping support people in our local community experiencing hardship and homelessness. For Science, students in Wiyanga have been looking at different environments and learning about the ๐ŸŒฑ plants, ๐Ÿพ animals, and natural features that make each environment unique. Students enjoyed taking a trip to ๐ŸŒณ Central Gardens Nature Reserve, where they explored the natural surroundings, observed local wildlife ๐Ÿฆœ, and identified different plants and habitats. โœจ Year 12 Reflection & Celebration โœจ On Friday, our Year 12 students came together for a special day of reflection, connection and celebration following their Trial HSC examinations. ๐ŸŽ“ Students took time to reflect on their growth, achievements and the friendships and relationships that have shaped their journey at SPMC, while looking ahead to the final stages of their Year 12 experience. ๐ŸŽญ VET Entertainment Industry Work Placement ๐ŸŽญ Year 11 VET Entertainment student Stella recently completed an incredible work placement at Belvoir St Theatre, gaining firsthand experience in the professional theatre industry. Stella observed the bump-in, rehearsals, company run and technical production of The Book of Everything. Guided by renowned lighting designer Nigel Levings, she learned more about operating a lighting desk and also helped create props for the production, including cutting and airbrushing leaves. Reflecting on the experience, Stella said: โ€œIt was incredible to watch how all the different roles work together to bring theatre to lifeโ€”it is much more complex than anyone can describe. From this experience, Iโ€™ve gained an interest in assistant stage management and developed an even deeper love for prop making.โ€ What a fantastic opportunity to learn directly from industry professionals and explore where a future career in Entertainment might lead. ๐Ÿ“šโœจ 73 students. 10 teams. 12 hours. 1 incredible challenge! Last week, our Library was buzzing with creativity as 73 students across 10 teams took on the Write a Book in a Day challenge! ๐Ÿ“–โœ๏ธ From 8am to 8pm, students had just 12 hours to plan, write, illustrate and produce a complete 3,500โ€“5,000 word book, all while working from a set of surprise parameters revealed this morning! โฐ๐Ÿ“๐ŸŽจ It was a fantastic day of creativity, collaboration, problem-solving and plenty of fun โ€” all while supporting an important cause, with the challenge raising funds for childrenโ€™s cancer research and treatment. ๐Ÿ’› Weโ€™re incredibly proud of the energy, teamwork and imagination our students brought to the challenge. ๐ŸŒŸ๐Ÿ‘ We canโ€™t wait to share their finished books with our community! ๐Ÿ“š๐Ÿ’ซ #stpatricksmaristcollegedundas #cspd2026 #catholicschoolsparramattadiocese #WriteABookInADay

๐Ÿ’™ A Marist Mission Without Borders ๐Ÿ’™ We are delighted to celebrate the opening of the St Patrickโ€™s Computer Lab at Marist Matriculation School, Viyalanmedu, India, officially opened on 18 August 2026. ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ณ๐Ÿ’ป Made possible through the generous support of the St Patrickโ€™s Marist College community, this new computer lab will give children and young people greater access to technology, new learning opportunities, and skills that will help prepare them for the future. In a community where many families depend on farming and daily labour, education brings hope and opportunity. This new facility is much more than a computer labโ€”it is a tangible expression of our shared Marist mission and our commitment to walking alongside young people.
